How much do you really spend in Edit, how much in Color?
The app tracks it automatically in the background, no clicking required — and tells you straight away what that hour actually cost.
A macOS menu-bar app that automatically tracks your actual working time across DaVinci Resolve's pages — and calculates what it costs.
macOS (Apple Silicon) available now. Windows coming soon.

Problem
Editors and production teams often have no idea how many hours actually go into each type of work — how much into editing, how much into color, how much into export. Rough estimates are usually off, and billing based on them is a gamble.
Solution
Track Your Time measures it automatically, in the background, based on whichever Resolve page you're currently on. No manual timers, no forgetting — just an accurate breakdown of your day, converted into money based on your hourly rate.
What the app does
Built directly on Resolve's official scripting API — no guessing, no manual timers.
Live overview in the menu bar
The menu bar icon shows live what you're working on right now — e.g. “⏱ Edit 12m 30s”.
Breakdown by page
Media, Cut, Edit, Fusion, Color, Fairlight, Deliver, Photo — every Resolve page is tracked separately.
Converted into money
Set your hourly rate and currency, and the app converts today's work straight into an amount.
Auto-pause on idle
After 5 minutes (configurable) without mouse or keyboard activity, the app pauses itself and stops counting extra time.
Doesn't pause during renders
Exports, renders, or AI analysis keep running without you touching anything — the app recognizes this so time on Deliver doesn't stop mid-way.
Project aliases
Unify project names across timeline versions so your overview doesn't fall apart.
What the app looks like
The preview matches the app's real UI, but the data shown is reconstructed — actual screenshots of the app are still on the way.

Frequently asked questions
Can the app see the contents of my project?+
No. The app only reads the current Resolve page name (Edit, Color…) and the project name, via the official scripting API — never the timeline contents or media.
Does the app work offline?+
Yes, the app is fully local and works without an internet connection. Syncing to the cloud dashboard is optional and will be added once it's available.
Does the app support Premiere Pro?+
Not yet, only DaVinci Resolve for now. Support for other editors is a possible future addition.
How do I get my license key?+
Right after payment it's shown on the “Thank you for your purchase” page, and we also send it by email.
When will the Windows version be ready?+
We don't have an exact date yet — leave us your email in the Download section and we'll let you know once the Windows app is tested.
Installation
The app is signed and notarized by Apple — installing it is just like any other app.
- 1
Unzip and move to Applications
Unzip the downloaded .zip and drag DaVinciTracker.app into /Applications.
- 2
Launch the app
The app is signed and notarized by Apple, so a normal double-click just works — macOS shouldn't show any warning or block it.
- 3
In rare cases, macOS says the app is "damaged"? Run xattr -cr
This happens only occasionally (e.g. depending on which browser you downloaded it with). If it does, open Terminal and run:
xattr -cr /Applications/DaVinciTracker.app - 4
Enable scripting in Resolve
In Resolve: Preferences → System → General → "External scripting using", set it to "Local" and restart Resolve. Without this, the app can't tell which page is currently open.
